Teach virtues through picture books.

A SECULAR VIRTUES CURRICULUM AGES 5-7

Four children standing in a row, three girls and one boy, representing the families Seeds We Grow is built for.

Seeds We Grow is a virtues curriculum for families with children ages five to seven. Bring self-control, patience, perseverance, kindness, courage, and compassion home, on your schedule, and give your family a shared language for character.

WHY THIS EXISTS

Character begins before the hard moment.

We want our children to grow up kind. Honest when no one is watching. Brave when something is hard. Patient with the people they love.

And we want those qualities to stay with them as they grow and begin facing the world on their own.

Character develops slowly through the choices children make in ordinary life. We cannot make those choices for them, but we can help prepare them with language, examples, and practice before the hard moments arrive.

That's what Seeds We Grow is for.

Each unit gives children stories where someone faces a choice, helps them understand what's happening, and lets them practice the skills underneath it. Hard moments still come. But a child who has practiced on a calm afternoon has somewhere to reach when it counts.

HOW IT WORKS

One virtue at a time.

01

Start with The Roots

The free first unit helps children name feelings, notice what's happening in their bodies, and practice taking a pause before deciding what to do next.

02

Spend a month with each virtue

Read two picture books together each time with a different purpose. Talk about what the characters notice, feel, and choose. Two short sessions a week is enough. Most of the featured books are widely available through public libraries and bookstores. The picture books are not included with the curriculum.

03

Bring it into everyday life

Notice the virtues as they appear in the car, at the playground, between siblings, and in the small choices that make up family life. Come back to the stories when you need them.

WHY WE CREATED IT

More than “be kind” and “be good.”

We wanted a way to talk with our children about life, the choices people make, and the kind of people we hope to become. We also wanted our children to know how to handle hard situations. That is why we created Seeds We Grow.

Each unit walks you through the stories, conversations, and activities. You bring them into your home, move at the pace that works for your family, and learn alongside your child.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Character grows slowly through thousands of ordinary moments.

Seeds We Grow helps your family notice those moments, understand what they call for, and find a way forward when things go wrong.

What begins in a picture book ends up in your family’s own words.
